As dads, as men, we so easily bury the thoughts, feelings, and worries that consume our minds. With that, we find few resources for us. Sure, there’s working out, waking up at 4AM, counting macros, and of course — put your head down and shut up. Sometimes a little bit of all those things are good at times.
Unfortunately, I know from experience it doesn’t work in the long run. I was in the best shape of my life, nutrition on point, woke up at 4AM, and was building a great business — but I was in a terrible mental space. My marriage was struggling, and I wasn’t the dad I wanted to be.
The solution wasn’t a better routine — it was better thoughts. Not just positive thoughts, but honest thoughts. Knowing which thoughts to entertain and which ones were the liars. Being honest about what needed to change, battling my ego, and learning better ways to express myself.
Long story short, I began to heal myself. I became the man, the husband, and the father my family deserved.
